If you find yourself in an area where war has broken out, you need to have the proper supplies! Your life will be changed drastically and need to have essential items. They will give you the best chance of making it through a chaotic time. We are going to cover the best supplies to have in your house in case of war!
If You Find Yourself In A City
In the event that you find yourself in a city, you should try to get out as fast as possible! If you can’t then prepare to hunker down. I would fill up my bathtub with water, to be used for drinking and flushing the toilet. Things may be blocked off or traffic jams could be all over as everyone will be trying to get out.
I would also make sure that I had plenty of food and water on hand. It’s important to have supplies in your home for wartime because it can last for days, weeks, months or even years. You do not want to have your survival in the hands of FEMA and other outside organizations and countries to help you.
Water, Water, And More Water
You’re probably wondering, “What if I just don’t have enough water?”
Well, let me be the first to tell you that this is not a question worth asking. If war has broken out, then you’ll need to have an abundance of water. You can’t make it too far without it.
During an armed conflict or war, things will be limited. If you can’t or won’t evacuate, then you need to store enough water for yourself and your family. The chances that running water will go out are high during these types of situations.
So if you want your family to stay hydrated and healthy, you need to be prepared with a sufficient amount of water. Either bottled water, water tanks, water jugs, and the like.
Water Purification
In war, many luxuries that we take for granted will be lost. The largest one could be water. Municipalities could be damaged or geared toward war. Sewage plants could be damaged as well as electricity/water.
If you run out of water you are going to need to be able to purify water. It’s going to have to come from somewhere and if it’s not clean you need a way to make it clean!
I would look into the various purification devices out there. I use the Berkey. You could use the Platypus Gravityworks Filter or Sawyer squeeze as well. It’s a good idea to have at least one of these to make it through a war.

Food For Surviving A War
Let’s talk about food for surviving war.
If you’re planning on surviving a war, you’re going to need a lot of food.
This is another thing you should have a lot of to make it through a war. I would focus on canned goods such as beans/tuna or powdered products. Powdered milk, eggs, and the like. Dehydrated food is another good option such as jerky.
Protein bars are another good idea. Other food items could be rice, lentils, peanut butter, nuts, and flour.
If you have a garden or some way to produce your own food (chickens) that could be a valuable resource in wartime. The only downside is that it could make you more of a target for enemy troops wanting food. Like most things, there are always pros and cons.
Cooking Food In A War For Civilians
When you’re preparing for a war, you want to make sure you have plenty of food stored away. It’s great if you have a large stockpile of food to use.
Many items stored you can eat without cooking but others you may need to. Those items you need to cook will be useless if you want to actually use them.
Such as cooking rice for example.
I would focus on Jellied Cooking such as Sterno or many other brands. They tend to be relatively cheap and you can store many of them in a small space. They are a good fuel source to have for cooking without power.
Injuries In War Are Going To Happen
Hopefully, you stay safe enough to not get injured during a war. The reality is that you could or someone you know will. When there is no running water, for example, our level of hygiene goes down tremendously. This then leads to small cuts and other minor things becoming more prone to infection than prior.
First Aid and Medications!
You have to have a first aid kit! This is a must for any civilian trying to survive a war. You should have any medications that you need. I would also recommend getting some kind of over-the-counter pain relief such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen. I would also recommend having some topical creams such as Neosporin, Polysporin, or Bacitracin (which are all antibiotic creams). These are great for cuts and scrapes but also for burns.
You can easily buy a first aid kit but make sure it has basic essentials. Such as gauze pads, butterfly bandages, gauze roles, medical tape, antiseptic, spam splint, scissors, and laceration closures.
It would not hurt to have a suture kit, for war.

Tent Or Tarp
In case of war, you’ll want to have a tent or tarp.
I would recommend having a tent big enough to fit your family, but if you can’t afford one, having a tarp is also a good option. This could be a real resource in case of war. You may need to evacuate and having an assured form of shelter can make all the difference. When everything around you is in total chaos!
Either have a tent or a tarp. If you decide on having a tarp I would make sure to have two tarps. One to act as a roof and the other as a barrier from the ground.
Wool Or Warm Clothing
If there’s going to be a war, you might as well be warm.
That’s why it’s important to have plenty of clothing in your house, just in case there’s a sudden outbreak of hostilities. You never know when war will break out, so it’s best to be prepared for any situation.
Of course, if the war is taking place in a cold environment, you’ll want to make sure you have plenty of warm clothing on hand (and maybe even some light clothing). If your heat source no longer works because of the war, then you’ll definitely want to have a few extras on hand. So that everyone can stay comfortable until things get back to normal again.
Duct Tape And Flashlight
I would have duct tape in my house in case of war and a flashlight. Duct tape has so many uses and can help you in various wartime situations. Such as dealing with wounds for example.
A flashlight is a good idea to have because if there is shelling power probably will go out. So having a source of light is good to have.
Emergency Radio
You want to stay informed about what is going on around you at all times. It could mean the difference between life and death. So having an emergency radio in case of war is a smart item to have!

Alternative Power
If you live in a city for example and you don’t want to attract attention when producing power there’s a good option. The best in my opinion is a foldable solar array.
This way you can charge important devices like your phone and other important electronics. In case the war has affected your electricity.
Here is a list of other important items to have:
compass
extra cash
fire starter
a multitool
firearm(to use in the worst case)
You should have a good idea of what foods to have in case of war. The reality is that you will need a collection of these items to help you survive. Start prepping now, and you will be well on your way to being as ready as possible!
