Survival Prepping For Normal People

Survival Prepping For Normal People

It’s easy to get wrapped up in the fantasy of the apocalypse. The thought of being able to survive in the wild, using your skills and knowledge to make it through tough times is undeniably appealing. But for most people, the reality of disaster survival prep is far less glamorous. It’s about being practical and rational, about ensuring your safety and the safety of those you love. So if you’re interested in survival prepping, but don’t know where to start, read on. This post will outline some basic steps you can take to get ready for whatever might come your way.

It is not only for doomsday preppers but for all people. Being prepared for a disaster isn’t crazy but far from it. There is nothing wrong with being prepared for the worst and hopefully, you will never have to use what you prepared for. It adheres to the phrase of its better to have it (food, water, medicine, …) and not need it than to need it and not have it.

Every year, hundreds of natural disasters strike communities around the world. While the government and relief organizations do their best to provide assistance, it’s important for individuals to be prepared to take care of themselves and their families in the event of a disaster. One essential element of survival prepping is having a reliable source of clean water.

While many people think of survival prepping as something that only conspiracy theorists or survivalists are interested in, the truth is that anyone can benefit from being prepared for a worst-case scenario. One of the best ways to ensure you have access to clean water in an emergency is to invest in a water storage tank. Water tanks come in many different sizes, so you can choose one that will fit your needs. The recommended amount of water per person is 1 gallon per day, so be sure to calculate how much water your family will need in case of an emergency.

Having a water storage tank is an essential part of being prepared for a disaster, but it’s just one piece of the puzzle. Make sure you know what other supplies and equipment you’ll need to weather any storm.

What survival gear would you have just starting out?

I would have duck tape as a major one because of the different applications that it can be used for. Another would be a multitool pocket knife because there will be so many different tools that are put together in a compact space.

It is always a good idea to have a flashlight. If you are able to buy a flashlight that is solar-powered or hand-powered as well, which would be an added bonus. If not, then make sure you check your batteries twice a year so your flashlight is always ready to go.

You are going to need some sort of fire starter. I would look into buying a flint and striker. That being said, do not just buy it and never actually use it. Learning how to use it is key!

Different types of communication devices would be recommended such as a radio.

One of if not the most important type of survival gear that you should have or look into would be self-defense weapons. They will protect you from people, animals and can enable you to hunt if needed.

Skills

One skill that I would learn is the process of canning, as it can be really fun and tasty. It could come in handy for preserving food long-term. Other skills that would be essential would be starting a fire,  or purifying water for example.

We Take Electricity For Granted

It is so common for a person to take electricity for granted. You would be surprised how much electricity you use on a daily basis. This is why finding other forms of generating electricity are key. When looking for different survival gear such as a flashlight or phone charger look into solar-powered ones for example.

A solar power kit of some kind will make all the difference! You can easily find foldable and stationary solar pannels for decent prices in comparison to what you are getting.

You can also buy small wind turbines as well online, but solar and wind need one key thing. You have to buy batteries to store that precious power, especially when the sun goes down or there is no wind. So keep that in mind and factor that into any budget when it comes to alternative energy sources.

Cars

In survival prepping for your vehicle, you will want to make sure you have enough fuel to get you where you are going without refueling. So the need for jerry cans is going to be at the top of your list of things to buy. They are a good investment generally as well because gas prices can fluctuate depending on what’s going on in the world.

Feeling Overwhelmed?

It’s not uncommon for preppers to become overwhelmed as I have been there! That’s completely normal! You are most likely reading this article because you are new to prepping.

Like anything in life, the first step is always the hardest. Over time it gets easier and easier. So the main thing is to recognize that it’s okay to feel the way that you are feeling 100%!.

What Items To Have?

These items are not essential to survival but can play a major role in your overall well-being. One of those being is a book for example or a kind of candy that you enjoy. Things like these are not going to be the difference between life and death. They will, however, make any situation more bearable when things get tough.

I always make sure I have a large stockpile of toilet paper for obvious reasons. Would I need toilet paper to survive? No, but is it something that I deem important to my happiness in a survival/disaster situation? Yes, without. a doubt!

You Can Start Stocking Up On Food Anytime

Survival

It is a word that conjures up images of burly men in the woods, far from the conveniences of society. And while it is true that survival skills can come in handy in a wide variety of situations, you don’t need to be a survivalist to stock up on food. In fact, stocking up on food is one of the simplest and most effective ways to prepare for a disaster. Whether you are facing a hurricane, a blizzard, or an apocalypse, having a supply of food on hand can mean the difference between survival and starvation.

One of the most important things to remember when stocking up on food is to focus on non-perishable items. canned goods, dried fruits and vegetables, and shelf-stable milk are all excellent choices. You should also consider investing in a water storage system. In the event of a natural disaster or an apocalyptic scenario, clean water will be incredibly valuable. By taking some simple steps, you can ensure that you and your family will be well-prepared in the event of a crisis.

While it may seem like a daunting task to stockpile enough food to last for weeks or even months, it is actually quite easy to do. All it takes is a little planning and forethought. With just a little bit of planning, anyone can easily stock up on enough food to survive a disaster.

Your Mentality Is Key

When it comes to survival, your mentality is key. Knowing how to stay calm and levelheaded in the face of disaster is essential in order to minimize the unwanted struggle. Fortunately, improving one’s mindset for preparedness is free and readily available in the age of the internet.

A simple mental shift from focusing on what could go wrong to visualizing what could go right can have a profound impact on disaster resilience. By taking the time to educate oneself on survival techniques and focus on building mental strength, anyone can increase their chances of success should they find themselves in an apocalyptic situation. So don’t wait until it’s too late, start preparing your mindset today. It could just be the difference between life and death.

Self-Reliance

To start on the journey of prepping you are demonstrating your desire for security and safety. That’s because you want peace of mind for yourself and your family. You do need other people’s help but the best help that you can find when preparing is you.

You cant rely on others to provide safety for you because no one will protect you and your loved ones as you will.

In a world that is increasingly unpredictable, it is more important than ever to be self-reliant. When disaster strikes, those who are prepared are more likely to survive. And in an apocalyptic scenario, self-reliance is essential. Metal strength and resilience will only get you so far; at some point, you will need to rely on others. But when it comes to survival, you can’t rely on anyone but yourself. So start prepping today and ensure that you and your loved ones have a fighting chance when the worst happens.

You Do Not Need To Start Prepping

That’s what many people I have encountered have told me. That being said, what is the harm in doing so. If there was ever a shortage in food, water, gas, or medicine I would be fine. If a natural disaster hit my home, I would be prepared. Prepping doesn’t consume my entire life but complements it by having the peace of mind that I am safe and so is my family.

In today’s world being a prepper is having the mindset of thinking ahead. Of not accepting what is going on right now, but preparing for the future. You hope that bad things will not come your way as we all do. That being said, what happens if they do.

There are many who think “it will not happen to me” in regards to a disaster happening. It is the same mentality of disassociating ourselves from negative things that happen in the world and in life. It makes us feel better, but wouldn’t it be better to have a plan in place. To have the resources and knowledge that you can fend for yourself if something were to happen. There is nothing wrong with that, as that’s normal.

It is inherent in what it means to be a human being. To protect ourselves and survive.

Economic Problems

Most people think of preppers as focusing on one doomsday scenario when that’s not the case. Its having your house in order to be ready for any scenario that presents itself. One major one that most people think and talk about is economic collapses and recession. These things happen and they will continue to do so.

The question is what are you going to do, to better protect yourself when these economic problems become a reality. It is always better to be prepared and have security so your not caught out in the cold.

There are a number of things you can do to prepare for economic problems. stockpiling supplies, diversifying your income sources, and getting out of debt are all key steps. It’s important to stay informed and stay calm. If you know what to expect and have a solid plan in place, you’ll be much better equipped to weather any economic storm.

As a prepper, one of your main goals should be to survive any economic problem that comes your way. Whether it’s a recession or a stock market crash, you need to be ready to weather the storm. That means having a well-stocked pantry, a plan for how you’ll get by without income, and a solid financial foundation to fall back on.

By taking the time to prepare now, you can ensure that you’ll be able to survive any economic problem that comes your way.

A New Pandemic

After COVID 19, the world changed. The same can be said for other major events that change the course of the world. Think of what would happen if a hundred times more deadly virus came around. It’s not something that will not happen but is a matter of time.

Our population continues to grow and the need to be prepared has made people realize that these “unlikely” scenarios can happen.

Sanitation Supplies

With a virus or pandemic, having access to disinfectant wipes and hand sanitizer will be crucial in preventing the spread of disease. And while we may think that we are immune to the dangers of disease due to modern medicine, history has shown us time and again that new viruses and pandemics can crop up at any time.

Stockpiling on items that will keep you clean in a disaster or pandemic scenario or a must! Things that keep germs away such as Lysol for example will be out of stock in a blink of an eye when things get real for people.

In a survival or disaster situation, having access to sanitation supplies is essential. This is especially true in the case of new viruses or pandemics, where keeping clean can help to prevent the spread of disease. Even in less extreme situations, such as power outages or severe weather, having a stock of supplies on hand can make a big difference. Paper towels, soap, and disinfectants are all items that should be included in any survival kit. While it may seem like a small thing, having a stash of toilet paper is also worth considering. In an apocalyptic scenario, even the most basic necessities can be hard to come by.

When stockpiling now, you can ensure that you and your family will be prepared for whatever comes your way.

Normal People

Normal people want to survive and be safe. Normal people want to be ready in life so that they do not need to worry. That is exactly why prepping is completely normal to want to put your family in a better situation regardless of what comes.

Food

In today’s world, it’s more important than ever to be prepared for anything. From new viruses and pandemics to natural disasters and the apocalypse, you never know what might happen. That’s why food is such an essential part of survival. With a good supply of non-perishable food, you can weather any storm.

Canned food is a great option for survival because it has a long shelf life and doesn’t require much to keep fresh. beans, cheese, and other staples can all be found in cans at your local store. Pasta is another great survival food because it’s easy to store and doesn’t spoil quickly. If you’re looking for something that will last in case of a disaster, invest in some survival food today. It could save your life.

Getting Your Family On Board

If your family is not on board with prepping, it can be quite frustrating. You have been preparing yourself and now you are ready to share the knowledge with your family.

It may be that they have never experienced a crisis or emergency situation before, so they do not see the need for prepping. They may also not understand the importance of having extra food, water, and fuel always ready.

You need to make your case about how you would prefer to be prepared than not. Reference world events and how it would not hurt to have extra food, water, and fuel always ready.

This will bring you peace of mind and eventually your family will get on board.

The Benefits Of Prepping

When you think of preppers, what do you think of? A survivalist who lives in a bunker and only comes out at night? Someone who doesn’t trust the government and thinks they are going to be attacked by aliens?

Most preppers are normal people. They have jobs, families, and lives outside of their “prepping.” They just know that it’s always better to be prepared.

The outside world has less of an impact on you as a prepper than it does for someone who isn’t prepared for disaster or other emergencies. If there is a power outage in your neighborhood, it won’t affect your food supply because you’ve bought enough food to last months or even years (depending on how much money you have). If there’s an earthquake that destroys your home, you’ll still have somewhere to sleep at night because you already have camping gear stored away somewhere safe from harm.

Being prepared for emergencies can help save lives—but it also saves money by reducing financial stress caused by unexpected events like fires or floods that could otherwise wipe out someone’s entire life savings overnight!

Practical Prepping

You do not need to run off into the woods to be a prepper by any means! There are all different kinds of preppers and that must always be remembered!

Practical prepping is what a lot. of people do without knowing it. They stock up on their favorite food item, so they always have what they want. Or a person stocks up on medical supplies such as insulin because they can never run out. The same concept applies to various aspects of our daily lives. Think of putting money away for a rainy day or making investments today to secure yourself for the future. You are prepping with or without you realizing it.

The only difference is putting “prepping” next to it. Prepping is practical and something everyone should do. You see it countless times when people are about to be hit by a storm and start clearing the shelves. Then you find yourself out of luck because you only have a week’s worth of supplies at home.

The same thing happened to me in Florida when one of our many hurricanes was about to hit. Some people paid a lot to get their homes boarded up and others had the plywood from another one. Think of people who might find themselves not being able to get any.

Or the people who did not know how to put up plywood over their windows after living in Florida for 20+ years. If they just invested in buying hurricane shutters, saved their plywood or learned how to put it up themselves. They would never need to worry because they prepared.

I found myself during one of these hurricanes trying to get gas in a long line. It took me well over an hour and the gas station ran out. Things like this happen all the time. It may not be a hurricane but maybe it’s a tornado, blizzard, and so on. Let’s just say I always have a few jerry cans of fuel now.

It is normal to be a prepper and it would serve people well if they were.
